Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Andrew Jones has congratulated new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, on her victory in the Conservative Party leadership race. Ms Truss gained 81,326 votes from the party membership against 60,399 for rival Rishi Sunak. Ms Truss will see Her Majesty the Queen at Balmoral tomorrow to formally take up office before returning to Number 10 to start work. Small business software grants scheme expands

A flagship government scheme that slashes the price of leading software, boosting productivity and growth of the UK’s small businesses, will benefit even more firms following changes to rules on which businesses can apply. With Customer Relationship Management software proven to boost firms’ productivity by 18 per cent on average, the Help to Grow: Digital scheme offers businesses discounts worth up to £5,000 on approved software. Previously, only businesses with more than five employees were eligible for the scheme. Now businesses with at least one employee are eligible to benefit. Local MP Andrew Jones will be holding an advice clinic at Bilton community centre as part of Bilton Community Day this Saturday (30 July) from 12 noon until 4.30pm.
