Harrogate Theatre Choir’s latest production celebrates Valentine in four acts. Musical Director Catherine Field-Leather said: In LOVE STORIES, Harrogate Theatre Choir present some of the very finest songs to emerge from the last one hundred years of Hollywood, Broadway and the West End. Musical Theatre has continually celebrated all aspects of love (see what happened there…?) From Eros, the passion of first love and romance to the angst of one-sided love, and the dilemma of feelings which are simply not reciprocated. What musical would be complete without the pathos and reflection of a love that fades or is lost?

Ambitious vision for future of harbours put into the spotlight
Communities are being asked to shape a ten-year plan to revitalise Scarborough and Whitby harbours and Filey Coble Landing. North Yorkshire Council is preparing a strategy which will promote safe, sustainable and economically viable harbours. It aims to celebrate their rich maritime heritage and embrace innovation and economic growth through collaboration and investment. The strategy will consider new developments including the £10 million Whitby Maritime Hub which is due to open in April. ‘Love is in the Air’ – a Valentine’s Concert with Duncan and Fran
At the age of 81, Harrogate’s own Duncan Goodwin was a finalist on Channel 4’s popular series The Piano. Since then, he has been sought after as a performer, and as he himself is living with Alzheimer’s Disease, he has used his newfound fame to raise awareness and funds for local charity Dementia Forward. The next fundraising concert will be to mark Valentine’s Day and will celebrate love in all its forms. Duncan, along with his wife and singing companion Fran, will perform together at the new West Park Centre in Harrogate on Saturday 14th February from 2pm and 4pm.

Christmas fundraiser for Harrogate Neigbours
Not-for-profit care provider, Harrogate Neighbours, celebrated a dazzling evening of festive generosity at its 8th annual charity event, held at Rudding Park Hotel on Friday 5 December 2025. “The Magic of Christmas” fundraiser welcomed 180 guests and raised £18,500, which will directly support Harrogate Neighbours’ award-winning Meals on Wheels service and the Harrogate Neighbours Community Hub located on Starbeck High Street. The night began with a surprise, Love Actually inspired performance by Gospel choir, Sankofa. Following this, guests enjoyed a three-course meal of festive favourites, live music and dancing.
