Local Reform branch backs leadership over BBC bias claims

Nigel Farage hosted a press conference on 10 November 2025, launching Reform UK’s plans around small business. Many of the questions were directed to him on the question of the BBC, the editing of a speech made by Donald Trump on 6 January 2021, the day of the Capitol riot. Nigel Farage claimed that what the BBC did was election interference and that they have been institutionally biased for decades. The comments come from the publication by the Telegraph Newspaper of leaked internal memos, the BBC Director General Tim Davie and BBC News CEO Deborah Harness stepping down.   Echoing what

Stars of classical music help Harrogate International Festivals celebrate 60th anniversary

The Harrogate International Sunday Series returns early next year with an exciting new programme of concerts featuring some of the best young talent in classical music, as Harrogate International Festivals celebrates its 60th anniversary. This hugely popular series has delighted audiences for more than three decades by bringing world-class classical musicians to Yorkshire, and the hugely popular Sunday morning coffee concerts are back with more virtuoso performers. Following the Government’s £5.2 million announcement for winter homelessness support in Yorkshire & Humber, Liberal Democrat MP Tom Gordon has called on ministers to do much more to deliver real, long-term solutions to end homelessness – not just short-term fixes. With record numbers of households now living in temporary accommodation across England, including nearly 170,000 children, this latest Government announcement falls far short of addressing the scale of the housing crisis which many councils are struggling to manage against a backdrop of budget cuts and spiralling costs of supporting families in need of temporary accommodation. Official figures show that local

Sharow pupils enjoy visit from a class inspiration

A much-loved former footballer and broadcaster has visited a North Yorkshire school where a class was named after him. Ex-Leeds United and Middlesbrough midfielder Chris Kamara spent the morning at Sharow Church of England Primary School to talk to pupils about his life and career after hearing how a class was named in his honour last year. Teachers and pupils had decided to name classes after well-known sports heroes who had triumphed over adversity, had picked Chris for the Year Three and Four class. And today, Chris was given a tour of the school, near Ripon, and spoke to pupils.

Harrogate midwife to run London’s Royal Parks Half Marathon for ex-commercial hen charity

A North Yorkshire midwife who works at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is lacing up her trainers and running for a slightly unusual cause this autumn – the welfare of ex-commercial hens. Rachel Clark, who lives in the village of Scruton near Northallerton, will run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London this October 12 in support of the British Hen Welfare Trust (BHWT), a national charity that rehomes thousands of hens every year from egg farms into loving back gardens. Rachel first adopted hens five years ago after moving to a home with some outdoor space. Since then,
