Essential tips on free and affordable activities to keep children entertained in Harrogate district this summer

While the summer break is a time many children look forward to, it can place significant financial and practical pressure on parents and carers.

With children facing an extended seven week summer holiday this year, Harrogate & District Community Action (HADCA) is encouraging families to make the most of its just published new guide.

This registered charity has brought together a wide range of free and affordable activities taking place throughout Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and the surrounding areas, giving families plenty of ideas for fun days out without stretching the household budget.

Angela Jones, Information & Communications Officer, at HADCA, said: “The summer holidays should be a time for children to make happy memories but we know that seven weeks can be a real challenge for families, especially those already feeling the pressure of rising household costs.

“We hope this guide helps parents and carers discover affordable ways to enjoy time together, while also highlighting the fantastic community organisations across our district that work so hard to support local families.”

The guide includes outdoor adventures, community events, creative activities, family attractions and opportunities organised by local charities and community groups.

The full guide is available on the HADCA website and as a downloadable PDF.

As the voluntary and community sector support organisation for Harrogate district, HADCA works alongside local charities, community groups and volunteers to strengthen communities, connect people with support and help ensure residents can access the services and opportunities they need.

By bringing together information like this, HADCA aims to make it easier for local people to find help, stay connected and enjoy everything the district has to offer.

Its new guide will be updated throughout the summer and HADCA is encouraging local community groups, charities and local businesses to inform them of events or activities that aren’t already listed by emailing the details to hadca@hadca.org.uk
