Groundworks near completion at new Ripon Leisure Centre

The multi-million pound improvement project of Ripon Leisure Centre is taking shape as work progresses to the next stage. Ground work, known as grouting, is nearing completion along with the installation of the new plant room that will serve the swimming pool. As well as improvements to the existing changing rooms, sports hall and gym area. Willmott Dixon – the contractor carrying out the works – are now ready to progress with installing the steel frame that will house the new pool. This phase is due to take approximately three weeks. Police searching for teenager wanted in connection with Ripon burglary

Police are appealing for information to help a locate teenager wanted on suspicion of aggravated burglary. Officers are looking for John Barker, 17, in connection with an incident in Ripon earlier this month. Barker, from Skelton on Ure, is believed to be in the Boroughbridge or Ripon areas of North Yorkshire. He also has links to Harrogate and Knaresborough. North Yorkshire Police officers have already visited several addresses linked to Barker, and spoken to a number of his friends and family, as efforts continue to arrest him. St Wilfrid’s Catholic Church welcomes worshippers again

Mass  is again being celebrated at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Church, Ripon, every weekend and each weekday apart from Mondays. Times are: Saturdays, 9.30am and, Vigil, 5.30pm; Sundays 9am and 10.30am. Angel art installation set to take off

As the doors of Ripon Cathedral closed in March its development team was tasked with creating and implementing a new project to support the community during lockdown. As COVID-19 tightened its grip  ‘A Wing and a Prayer’ was born – in partnership with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Trio of young artists win national acclaim

Three talented Ripon Grammar School artists have been selected from more than 17,700 students to have their paintings on display in a prestigious national exhibition. The stunning works by Isaac Henson, Hugo Wade and Milly Lennox will sit among those by 400 young artists picked by a panel of experts for the Royal Academy Summer Show, which launches online on July 12.
