Brearton pub comes up for sale for the first time in 28-years

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brought to market The Malt Shovel, a popular pub in Brearton, North Yorkshire. The well-known venue has come up for sale as the current tenant has decided to move on and the freeholders, Charlotte and Les Mitchell have decided the time is right to sell their investment property after 28-years. The Miniskip Scarecrow Weekend is back – oh yes it is!

The village of Minskip, near Boroughbridge, is holding its popular annual Scarecrow Competition again this weekend (September 3-4). The competition, which has established a fine reputation during the past couple of years, sees almost the entire village making scarecrows which then line the main street in a blaze of colour throughout the weekend. This year’s theme is Pantomime (On Yes, it Is!). ‘Bear’ hunts fresh opportunity following departure from North Yorkshire gastropub

Co-founder, entrepreneur and head chef of the popular Knaresborough restaurant and bar, ‘The Bear at Carriages’, Sam Pullan, has left the business after two years. Sam acquired the business, formerly Carriages, out of administration in 2020 with business partner John Dixon. Following £100k of investment and extensive renovations, The Bear at Carriages opened in summer 2020 against the backdrop of multiple lockdowns, breathing new life into the venue in the market town. 63rd + 1st opened in November 2021 on Albert Street in Harrogate. The area is a hub for many restaurants, including Yo! Sushi, Cote, Portofino, Pizza Express and Zizzi. Although there are plenty of options, they have aimed to offer something a little different. This restaurant is their 3rd, with a new opening planned very soon in Edinburgh. They have a large cocktail menu, along with smaller plates. You can make what you want of the visit, just have cocktails or order as many plates as you like.
