Councillor Michael Schofield meets with stakeholders for the Otley Road cycle way scheme

Councillor Michael Schofield met this morning (27 May 2022) with two of the stakeholders for the Otley Road cycleway scheme. Judy D’Arcy Thompson, chair of the Stray Defence Association committee and Chris Dicken from the Harlow and Pannal Ash Residents Association (HAPARA) discussed the history of the scheme, the recent NYCC stakeholder event, and their views towards it. The Cycle Scheme is in three phases: Phase 1 Otley Road, from the Harlow Moor Junction (reservoir) to Cold Bath Road/ Arthur’s Avenue. The work is widened pathways, shared for walkers and cyclist. Cheers from Henshaws charity Beer Festival

Following the first successful day-long event in 2019, the Henshaws Beer Festival returned to the town for a full weekend with an even bigger and better offering. With two daytime family friendly events and an adult only evening session there was something for everyone. Festival goers supped over 4,000 drinks across the two days. As the sun shined, Henshaws welcomed over 850 people to the Arts & Crafts Centre to enjoy the range of 21 handpicked beers, as well as a range of gins, wines and cider, all proudly produced here in Yorkshire. Valley Gardens to host four day Platinum Jubilee celebrations

From Thursday 2 June until Sunday 5 June, Valley Gardens in Harrogate will host a four-day event to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Family Fun Day to mark the legacy of Millie

In June Katie Beadle hosting a Family Fun Day, to raise money for Martin House Children’s Hospice & Harrogate Hospital Children’s Ward. it will mark the legacy of her daughter, Millie. Families enjoyed May Day at Ripon Cathedral Beer Festival

Ripon Cathedral Beer Festival was a huge hit after three-year COVID break – kindly sponsored by Wolseley. The Ripon Cathedral Beer festival was the place to be in Ripon this bank holiday Monday with 1,250 adults coming to enjoy a few beers to support the cathedral. Overcast skies failed to deter visitors and £18,000 was raised; this will help fund the music, heritage conservation and the education programme at Ripon Cathedral. One week left for community groups to apply for Platinum Jubilee community grant

With one week left, Harrogate Borough Council is urging community groups to apply for a Platinum Jubilee community grant to help Harrogate district residents celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. Video: The Harrogate Town AFC mascot joins Willow Tree for Walk to School day

Some of the Children from Willow Tree School walked to school with Harry Gator, the Harrogate Town AFC mascot. (25 March 2022) They met with Harry outside the club grounds on Wetherby road, and then walked down to the school. They were greeted by the Mayor and Mayoress of Harrogate. Councillor Trevor Chapman, and Janet Chapman. The event is co-ordinated across the district by Zero Carbon Harrogate, and has a good uptake. A global event which promotes clean energy and electric vehicles is set to come to the north of England for the first time after choosing the Yorkshire Event Centre as its host venue. Fully Charged, the World’s no.1 Electric Vehicle and Clean Energy Show, is expected to attract 10,000 visitors when it’s held at the Yorkshire Event Centre on Friday 19th to Sunday 21st May 2023. Harrogate Grammar School celebrates Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year celebrations took place at Harrogate Grammar School last week, with a vibrant display of kung fu and dance. The school, students and parents/carers celebrated the Year of the Tiger with a colourful showcase of food and culture. Mandarin teacher Richard Barnard, who spent several years living in China, explained: New Year is all about togetherness, eating with the people you love and making wishes.
