Work and Pensions Minister, Will Quince MP, heaped praise on Harrogate’s Job Centre team this week during questions to the Department for Work and Pensions. Andrew Jones, Harrogate & Knaresborough MP, asked the Minister if Harrogate’s best practice can be shared with Job Centres up and down the country so they can work at the pace of the best. Eat out to Help out: Harrogate area diners claim 136,000 meals

The Eat out to Help out scheme has been hailed a success for the Harrogate area with £931K being put back into the local economy. The UK has 1.8 million jobs in hospitality and it is an important area for Harrogate, both for tourism and the conference trade. Harrogate and Knaresborough 153 registered restaurants 136,000 meals claimed £931,000 claimed £6.86 claimed per meal Nationally over 100 million meals have been claimed for under the scheme. Local Liberal Democrats launch “Hands of Harrogate petition” a call to stop Devolution

Liberal Democrats have launched a petition calling on the Tory Government to abandon their disastrous proposals for a mega council and Executive Mayor, instead bringing decision-making closer to residents. The ‘Hands Off Harrogate’ campaign argues that Harrogate district should make its own decisions and run its own services. Harrogate Gymnastics calls for fairness over reopening plans following lockdown

Chloe Carey has owned and operated Harrogate Gymnastics on Hornbeam Park in Harrogate for nearly 11 years. Chloe said: I started as a coach at Rossett Sports Centre an then opened a small space on Hornbeam Park. From there the club has been extended, in 4-phases, and over the years. The last development was the new reception and changing rooms on the floor below. We now have around 1,100 students and more tha come to drop-in lessons. The club took the decision to close the doors straight away when the government said that people shouldn’t take part in indoor sports.
