At the age of 81, Harrogate’s own Duncan Goodwin was a finalist on Channel 4’s popular series The Piano. Since then, he has been sought after as a performer, and as he himself is living with Alzheimer’s Disease, he has used his newfound fame to raise awareness and funds for local charity Dementia Forward. The next fundraising concert will be to mark Valentine’s Day and will celebrate love in all its forms. Duncan, along with his wife and singing companion Fran, will perform together at the new West Park Centre in Harrogate on Saturday 14th February from 2pm and 4pm.

The Knaresborough Branch of the Royal British Legion has been rocked to the core on receipt of a letter from the assistant Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police informing the Branch that North Yorkshire Police will no longer provide the Traffic Management function for Knaresborough’s Remembrance Day Parade on Remembrance Sundays as the force needs to make sure Police resources remain focused on tackling crime and anti-social behaviour. This immediately puts this year’s Remembrance Day Parade’s at risk of being cancelled and future ones not happening too.
