First patient vaccinated at COVID vaccination clinic at Ripon Racecourse

Patients have begun receiving COVID vaccinations at North Yorkshire’s newest vaccination centre at Ripon Racecourse. The first patient to be given the vaccine at the racecourse was 73-year-old Maureen Lambden who described the experience as “fantastic”, saying she felt “you have to do it, don’t you?” and that she was “very, very grateful” for the opportunity. Tuesday afternoon’s vaccination clinic was staffed by doctors and nurses from local GP surgeries, Yorkshire Health Network, volunteer marshals, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the racecourse’s own team – who had worked to clear the snow with expert assistance from Econ Engineering. Harrogate Town came from behind to post a 2-1 victory over fifth placed Newport County. Covid-19 testing introduced to North Yorkshire’s schools

Lateral Flow Testing is being introduced to schools to allow teaching staff and secondary pupils to receive regular, voluntary tests for Covid-19. Tests are voluntary for adults and young people and no child or young person will be tested without informed consent from the appropriate adult or carer. Pupils will not be prevented from receiving face-to-face education if they are not tested. The tests are designed to allow staff teaching in primary and secondary schools, colleges and maintained nurseries to test themselves regularly for covid twice a week. Harrogate District Climate Change Coalition response to Rotary Wood planning application

Harrogate District Climate Change Coalition was set up in response to Harrogate Borough Council’s 2019 notice of motion supporting measures to address the climate emergency. The Coalition promotes rapid greenhouse gas reduction activities throughout the Harrogate District. To avoid using up our fair share of the global amount of carbon which can be emitted without exceeding 1.5OC global temperature rise, we need to deliver the majority of local carbon cuts during the next ten years 1.
