Marie Curie’s plea to people in Harrogate and Ripon to support £1m fundraising campaign at Morrisons stores

Marie Curie’s plea to people in Harrogate and Ripon to support £1m fundraising campaign at Morrisons stores

The plea comes as the charity launches its Morrisons Paint It Yellow fundraiser helps to raise much-needed funds so that Marie Curie Nurses and healthcare professionals can provide expert care and support in the comfort of home, within our Harrogate District Hospital and via its free information and support services.

Last summer, every Morrisons Community Champion, member of staff and customer made an incredible effort for Marie Curie, raising more than £1 million for the charity care in just one month.

Gemma Hewitt, Marie Curie Senior Community Fundraiser for North Yorkshire, said: “We believe everyone deserves expert end of life care and support.

“Getting involved in the Paint It Yellow fundraiser and collecting at your local Morrisons is a brilliant and fun way to give back to the local community.

“By giving just a couple of hours to collect in Morrisons this summer, you will be helping Marie Curie continue to provide expert end of life care and support for people and support for their families.

Marie Curie supports people with any illness they are likely to die from including Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, heart, liver, kidney and lung disease, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s, and advanced cancer.

At the moment, almost one in three people don’t get the end of life care and support they need.

Marie Curie wants to change this.

People can show their support by getting involved in various Paint it Yellow fundraising activities in their nearest Morrisons store, from golden raffles and tombolas to yellow in-store trails and colleague bike challenges or by giving up a few hours to collect donations at local Morrisons stores.

From August 3 to August 23, Morrisons customers can pick from hundreds of products in yellow packaging in store and online.

Collections will be held at Morrisons supermarket in Starbeck and Ripon from July 30 to August 2.
