Children to get chance to run final furlong at Ripon Races in charity day for all the family
Taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, this fantastic children’s event sees children aged 5-8 being given the opportunity to race along the final furlong in their animal onesies for the chance to win Lightwater Valley theme park tickets and more.
A day packed with family entertainment, every participant will receive a medal and horse themed chocolate, making it a rewarding experience for all.
Harrogate Theatre representatives will be there on the day raising money.
As a registered charity (The Harrogate (White Rose) Theatre Trust Ltd, No. 225342) Harrogate Theatre relies on charitable donations, fundraising and corporate partnerships to sustain its community, educational and performance programs.
Because box office income covers only a fraction of their costs, the charity uses financial support to fund vital local initiatives.
Natalie Rawel, Head of Marketing and Development at Harrogate Theatre said, “The support we receive from Ripon Races strengthens our connection with the local community and helps us bring more businesses and community groups together, raising greater awareness of the power of theatre and sport.
“Having a Onesie Derby is a fantastic way to bring families together.
“The atmosphere will be brilliant, we are really looking forward to the buzz on the day, the onesies and the fantastic turnout.”
An annual event, entry is completely free and an accompanying adult will also gain free entry.
There will also be theatrical-themed children’s entertainment, including a lively circus.

“We pride ourselves on being an accessible, family racecourse with free entry for accompanied under 18s on all racedays.
“Add in some free activities for children over on the Course on August 31 and we have a Family Fun Day for all to enjoy.”
